October Sky

What did you think of the movie?

Seeing how far technology has come since 1957, when Sputnik was launched, we can conclude that technology will continue to develop and change our world. Further, as a whole technology is good, however, if used incorrectly it can have very negative affects on society and the world. How can we make sure that technology is used in the right ways and be responsible "digital citizens"?

  1. personally, i really liked this movie. it was pretty darn inspirational. to make sure that we can be proper "digital citizens" we need to carefully censor out profanity on anything that we post. basically, it's like you don't want your second cousin from newark reading about your secret life.

  2. I think it was a pretty good movie.

To make sure that technology is used in the right ways, we should check and see if our technology being used is legal. Also, we need to make sure that whatever we are using is safe for our identities and health. We wouldn't want to be exposing personal information or breaking any rules. If we invent or make something, we would want it to be safe and not threaten our health if something goes wrong.

  3. How can we use technology the right way and be responsible "digital citizens? For example, in Facebook, make sure that you post something that has no foul language or anything personal. People can see these things especially if you have family members as friends. Another way to use technology right is to not cyber bully because if someone does do it, they're actually cowards in real life. This is how we can use technology the right way and be responsible "digital citizens".

  4. I thought that the movie was interesting.

We can make sure that technology is used in the right ways and be responsible "digital citizens" by not posting too much information on the web or by not using technology too much.

  5. I think that the movie was cute. Technology is growing each and every day, seeing this movie shows how far we have come in technology ever since this movie was made. I think that we can be digital citizens by not saying things that we don't want other people to see. We can keep things to ourselves, like things that we know that we don't want our mom, dad, aunts, and uncles to read. We can jut be nice I guess.

  6. Ithink the movie was a good movie because it showed how you dont have to be whatg people ecpect you to be but what you want to be. Dont just be waht everyone else is going to be but something of your own.
We can be responsible "digital citizens" if we dont out all are information. We should have a limit to what we put up on our accounts and we should not put things that we dont want the whole world to see.

  7. i thought the movie was very interesting how they learned to make rockets. it was pretty good that they Homer got a scholarship for building rockets which i thought was kinda weird.

We can make sure that technology is used in the correct way because as technology grows also come the risks of cyber bullying or what not. Like in the movies Spiderman "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility" saying that with technology we must be responsible for the consequences that may happen.

  9. -I thought the movie was good. I think it had an interesting ending and I liked it because it was based on a true story.
-I think the way that we can remain responsible "digital citizens" is by always remembering to be responsible and use our best judgement. We can make sure that we keep in mind who is going to read our posts. We have to act our age and be appropriate.

  10. What I think of the movie is that, it was a really good movie, it was interesting because these four boys were actually trying to make the rocket fly. Homer is a very smart, young man. I couldn't believe that he actually learned all the math by himself with the equations. I was very impressed in what he was doing.

How we can make sure that technology is used in the right ways and be responsilbe for 'digital citizens' is that we shouldn't be on the websites that we are supposed to be on and don't do anything dumb. We really shouldn't post a lot of our information out there because there could be online predators and cyber bullies.

  11. The movie was interesting. I was really into it. We can be responsible digital citizens by keeping some things to ourselves. Everyone can read pretty much everything you put on the internet, so keep things that you think are private to yourself.

  12. The movie was good and I liked it. Based on a true story makes the movie inspiring to me. I think that there are certain ways to use technology and be responisble. One way I think is to read directions before starting anything. Another is to be careful of putting information out there for the public that you don't want. Technology will come and go, but it is usually us to make the desicion.

  15. I liked the movie alot. It was good. It was different but inspirational, especially because it was based on a real story.

I think we could be safe and responsable digital citizens by not doing anything on the computer that we wouldn't do in person.

I also like the fact that it was based on a true story.

  17. I thought the movie was surprisingly really good. We can do this by being responsible for our actions and think of the consequences of sharing too much information. Also, if you have nothing nice to say to people, dont say it

  18. @brittanysalud i agree with you, and the internet is a very open place, where mosin informationc an be seen by others.

I agreee with the fact that you felt the movie was inspirational. I think it really would give hope to someone who was put in the same situation with similar problems.

  21. I liked the movie because i showed how people who aren't very smart can invent something very cool and become a smart person. IT was cute also because they all worked together and were really happy.

We just have to bring the good out of the negative....it's technology has came a long way since 1957 and we hope for the best. we trust pwople who make them and use the technology is useful, non-harmful way.

  22. I liked the movie it was very nice and inspiring that anyone can do anything as long they make the time and effort.

We can make sure that technology is used in the right ways and be responsible by telling and informing the people of how bad it can get if technology is used in the wrong way. By informing the people about the right ways how to use technology we can prevent it to be used in the wrong ways. Technology can be infuenced easily just by us the kids and how we use facebook or myspace. Through us telling people and having them actually listen to bad and the good sides of technology we can prevent the bad.

I agree with you. Reading directions can help you avoid mistakes and that you should not post unwanted information.

  24. Well, technology will always continue to change since we depend on it so much. The use of our technology is in the hands of all the major producers like Apple or Google. So presently we don't have much say in how we can change it until we are old enough to have a word in this world. By the way I liked the movie :D

  25. At Angelica...

I agree that we shouldn't post information which could get our identity stolen by online thefts or cyber bullies....
YOU SHOULDN'T DO ANYTHING DUMB LIKE THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE...

  26. @aryana or course, if technology was used badly, say, a lazer used to make hamsters evil and plot against us, then yeahh, it would be bad.

    ReplyDelete
  27. @Arjay, Ochave i agree with your comment.

  28. @kristinmitra yes the movie was very inspirational. and we really should start censoring what we say on the internet.

  29. I think the movie was really good.

To make sure we are digital citizens we sould have enough respect for ourselves to not make a fool out of ourselves. Also, be appropriate in what we say and do on the internet, make sure what we do is safe. Plus we are representing our parents on the internet so think twice before you say something because the person who you probably wouldn't think will see it, will. So be smart!

  30. brittany: i highly agree with what you had to say because technology could affect our health as well.

  31. We can make sure that we are "digital citizens" by keeping sure that what you put on the internet is appropriate and not taken out of context. It's not like you want your mom or dad reading everything you do that you dont want them to find out about. I would try not to use foul language or anything personal.

  32. Kaleigh: I totally agree with you because we should all be resonsible when it comes to posting things on the web.

I love the fact that technology is growing and becoming more advanced. I think it will make for a better future and more advancements in many different areas of life.

  34. I've watched this movie several times before. I always enjoy it. I find their southern accents pretty entertaining too.

To make sure technology is used appropriately, digital citizens who use the internet should follow all guidelines, and have a little common sense. I mean, you wouldn't want to post something rude and obnoxious about someone knowing that millions of people could possibly view it. Writing is a public act, and some things should just remain private.

  35. @psal510:

I agree with you but if we put a limit, we should put a specific limit to what kind of information we put on the internet.

  39. @Kylie I agree with your answer because we don't really want any of our information to be everywhere, especially to our family. Because they think that we're doing something that's not right.

  45. I thinik the movie was very interesting because it made sense and the flow was very understanding. I also liked it because the movie had some comedy in it that made people laugh which is always a good thing.

Ways we can use our technology in more responsible way is not taking what we have already for granted. In order for us to keep advancing in technology we have to keep inventing and creating new things.

  46. I really like the movie. I would like to say that I was impressed, but that would not do justice. It was very inspiring and interesting. The plot was very well thought out and sincere. It was well made and captivating. The characters, especially, were admirable. I couln't imagine how the real people feel.
We can be sure that technology is used in the right way by understanding how it works and why it works. Hopefully, this way, we will learn how to appreciate it and be more responsible.

we can make sure that technology is used in the right ways and be responsible "digital citizens" by making sure that the information we put on the web is safe. We shouldn't post any personal information and expose our identities to other because it could get way out of hand.
